Project was let to Tom Blackwell Contractors & Plant Hire Limited for the extraction of ARB and over burden & interburden followed by placement of engineered clay liner to create liner for inert landfill that followed gravel extraction

Project involved the selective extraction of 350,000 tons of ARB annually and delivery to conveyor system for transport and processing, ARB reserve at Tyttenhanger is made up of upper and lower seams split by a 2 – 4 metre deep deposit of blue clay phasing of excavation to ensure the correct blend of upper and lower aggregates were always available to the plant to maximise processing output was key to the successful out come of this contract. Tom Blackwell’s deployed plant and equipment to site purchased new for the 2 year project with the aim of maximising output, reducing down time to guarantee supply of ARB for processing by Lafarge.
Working closely with Lafarge Aggregates site team Tom Blackwell Contractors & Plant Hire Limited over the 2 yr contract period fully complied with and were actively involved in improving site health and safety record and fully adopting the Lafarge Dupont style interactive safety protocols.
