Description of Works
Tom Blackwell Contractors & Plant Hire Limited were contracted by Carillion’s as earthwork sub contractor on the project. Undertaking topsoil strip, on site cut to fill, placement and compaction of 120,000 tons of 1 A imported fill material, Roadbox excavation, type 1 placement & trim and also re-soiling

Programme 25 weeks – Earthworks completed to budget in 16 weeks

Contract NEC3 Option A Lump Sum  

Contract to construct new graded junction off the busy A12 dual carriageway including slip roads, two roundabouts and a new bridge over the A12 were awarded to Carillion PLC under their Highways agency frame work agreement, Tom Blackwell Contractors & Plant Hire Limited worked closely with Carillion pre and post award to plan and finally implement the earthworks aspect of the project. Tom Blackwell’s through rigorous planning by our site management team and the careful deployment of resources drove project program forward and completed the earthworks 9 weeks early.
